Walk Within – to understand inequities; Experience Bharat; Explore Yourself

Walking is a metaphor, a metaphor for Life, a life lived consciously, conscientiously, reflectively, slowly, responsibly and watchfully.

“Think while walking, walk while thinking, and let writing be but the light pause, as the body on a walk rests in contemplation of wide open spaces.”

Frédéric Gros, A Philosophy of Walking

The Walk that we will be embarking on from Dec-22 through 29 is an attempt to re-connect ourselves to the realities of “real” Bharat – an 8-day walk through rural Bharat garnished with inspiring talks, interactions and a chance to interact with Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Dr. Balu someone who has lived and worked for several years among remote forest-based tribal communities, founder SVYM and GRAAM. A widely respected development activist, leadership trainer, thinker, and writer, Dr. Balu has uniquely been able to combine a vast development sector experience with studying and teaching at the world’s leading schools of policy and development including Harvard and Cornell.

In the short 60-second clip below Dr. Balu succinctly lays out one of the objectives of the Walk – how do we begin to understand the inequities that we see in the world around us and how do we bring about the change we want to see in the World…
